QuicKutz Die cutting system hand tool

Everything you need to know about the QuicKutz Hand Tool!

  1. The QuicKutz hand tool, alphabet sets, and shapes are all sold separately to allow you to create the perfect custom die-cutting system. To get started, you will need the hand tool and your choice of dies. You can start with just one die or a whole alphabet.
  2. Each QuicKutz alphabet comes stored in its own die sheets (with ejection foam and shims). We recommend buying one QuicKutz binder for every 2-3 alphabets, and extra die sheets to store any extra shapes you order.
  3. Another great storage option is baseball card sheets. You will need a larger binder to hold these sheets.
  4. QuicKutz Organization: This is a huge issue for many of our fellow QuicKutz fans. Once you have a few alphabets you will want to keep them organized so you can find what you want quickly and easily. The two tips we recommend are:
    (a) Once you have your dies in plastic sheets (either the EZ Store Sheets or another style, like the baseball card sheets mentioned above)), label each pocket. You can either cut out a letter/shape with the die and glue it on to the front of the pocket, or use a permanent marker or Slick Writer to label the pocket. Either way, you will know exactly where that die goes! And if a die is missing you will know which one.
(b)Use divider sheets with tabs to separate each alphabet. Some QuicKutz fanatics even print out the font icons from our site so that the labels on the divider tabs match the font dies! :)
  5. Our customers have a lot of fun sharing and swapping alphabets with each other to expand their font library.
  6. When shopping at our site, click on the alphabet thumbnail (the small picture) to see a larger picture of the dies as well as a picture of all the dies that come in that set.
  7. There is an incredible assortment of QuicKutz alphabet sets and shape dies, so many that we can't carry them all in stock yet. And new QuicKutz alphabets are introduced regularly.
  8. Adhesive: You could use a glue pen to adhere all of your letter and shape die cuts, but it will save you a lot of time to get a mini Xyron (also known as "X", Sticker Maker or 150). With this little time-saver you just slide your die-cuts into the Xyron and they come out with adhesive on the back, similar to stickers.
  9. Ejection foam is the white foam pieces. They have adhesive on one side and you place one over the front of each die before use. Shims are plastic stickers that you stick to the back of the die if you happen to have problems cutting with that die. Most of the time you don't need a shim to make a clean cut, even on the thickest cardstock. But occasionally that extra thickness will allow you to make a cleaner cut. You can also put two shims on the die if absolutely necessary. Both ejection foam and shim sheets come with every QuicKutz die. Alphabet sets come with more than enough foam and shims, and the newer alphabets come pre-foamed!
